The short answer
PDF Coast converts Word, Excel and PowerPoint files to PDF on your own PC, for free. On the Home screen choose Convert to PDF, then Office to PDF, and pick the files. Fonts, page breaks, headers and footers are kept, and Word headings become PDF bookmarks. The conversion uses the Microsoft Office installed on your PC, so the result matches what Office itself would produce. Without Office, PDF Coast uses the free LibreOffice if it is installed.

How to do it
- On the Home screen choose Convert to PDF, then Office to PDF.
- Pick one or more .docx, .xlsx or .pptx files.
- Choose where to save the PDF.
- Open the result. Headings from the document appear as bookmarks.

Questions
Do I need Microsoft Office installed?
For Word, Excel and PowerPoint files you need Microsoft Office or the free LibreOffice. PDF Coast uses Office when it is installed and LibreOffice otherwise. Images, web pages and text files convert without either.
Is Word to PDF free?
Yes. Creating PDFs from other files is free, with no watermark and no page limit. Converting a PDF back to Word, Excel or PowerPoint is part of Pro.
What if the document has a password?
PDF Coast asks you for it, instead of failing behind a hidden Office dialog.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. PDF Coast opens and saves the file on your own computer, and works with the internet switched off. Nothing about the document is sent anywhere.
