The short answer
PDF Coast redacts PDFs on your own PC. Open the file, go to Protect, and choose Redact (True Redaction) to mark text or areas, or Find & Redact to mark every match of a word or number. Then choose Save Redacted Copy. The marked content is removed from the file, so it cannot be copied, searched or recovered. Redaction is part of PDF Coast Pro, with a 14-day free trial.

How to do it
- Open the PDF and choose Protect in the toolbar.
- Choose Redact (True Redaction) and drag over text or areas, or Find & Redact to mark every match.
- Check the marks. Tick Also remove hidden data to clean metadata at the same time.
- Choose Save Redacted Copy. The original stays as it was.

Is the text really gone?
Yes. Redaction removes the characters and image content under each mark from the file. Drawing a black box over text, as many tools do, leaves the text in the file where anyone can copy it.
