The short answer
PDF Coast splits PDFs on your own PC, for free. Open the document and choose Split PDF. You can split every few pages, at page ranges you type, at bookmarks, or into parts that each stay under a file size you set, such as an email attachment limit. To take out a few pages, use Pages and Extract. The original is not changed.

How to do it
- Open the PDF and choose Split PDF.
- Choose how to split: every N pages, by page ranges, at bookmarks, or by maximum file size.
- To take out a few pages instead, open Pages at the top of the window, select them and choose Extract.
- Choose where the new files go. The document you started with is not changed.
Split PDF online, or on your PC?

Questions
Can I split a PDF to fit an email attachment limit?
Yes. Choose the maximum file size option and enter the limit in MB. Each part is built and measured, so it really fits. A single page that is over the limit on its own is named in the result; Compress PDF is the tool for that page.
Are bookmarks kept?
Yes. Each part keeps the bookmarks that point to its pages.
Is there a page limit?
No. It runs on your PC, so the only limit is your computer.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
